Hong Kong may not immediately spring to mind when thinking of swimming pools; shoppers and dim sum eaters come to mind first, not swimming pools. Yet this city is home to beautiful water spots, from world’s highest pool and natural infinity pond on mountainside ridges, as well as public pools offering respite from urban living or simply to cool off; here are our favorite Hongkong pools.

Hong Kong’s public swimming pools may remain open this summer, but some could close due to a severe shortage of lifeguards. A Hong Kong union representative warned recently that 20 of Hong Kong’s 45 pools have told swimming clubs they cannot operate all facilities this summer, while others have closed lanes or classes designated for swim lessons as a result of staffing shortages. For this reason, we advise booking lessons as early as possible.
