HONG KONG – Cash incentives for athletes performing well at the 2024 Paris Olympic will be increased by up to 20 percent, giving gold medalists over $6 Million as prize money. Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan made this announcement during a flag-presenting ceremony for local competitors heading off to participate. Games run July 26 to Aug 11, with over 30 Hong Kong athletes set to compete across 13 events: athletics, badminton, cycling, fencing, gymnastics judo rowing sailing windsurfing table tennis and taekwondo.
On Thursday evening, it is expected that the winner of HK Lotto’s record-breaking first division prize of HK$1.5 billion will be revealed, receiving approximately two times Hong Kong’s monthly average salary as part of an unprecedented jackpot that has steadily been rising since January 1.
If no first division prize winner emerges, their money will be added to a jackpot pool for future draws, increasing potential winnings. If there is still no winner after multiple attempts are made at selecting their number(s), or no winner emerges at all, then this fund may be distributed among second division prize winners according to lottery norms; currently it stands at an unprecedented HK$1.5 billion jackpot prize!
