SGP seeks to assemble and generate an extensive set of sedimentary geochemical data (iron, carbon, sulfur, major and trace metal isotopes) from every time slice from Neoproterozoic through Paleozoic periods in order to gain a greater insight into both the origin of Earth’s crust as well as life’s global development on this planet.
SGP is located on a 160-acre cattle pasture and wheat field site southeast of Lamont, Oklahoma, consisting of the Central Facility housing instrumentation, support staff and researchers as well as several unmanned stations that continuously collect data at the site. Data gathered here is utilized for many research activities from single observation analyses to multi-observation process studies to assimilation into earth system models.
In order to calculate a student’s SGP, two years’ of MCAS test score data is combined and compared against academic peers with similar test scores in order to compare. Academic peers are identified through MCAS assessment history in their grade level as well as demographic groups such as socioeconomic status and gender achievement; as well as different educational programs like sheltered English immersion or special education programs.
Student Growth Point (SGP) scores range from 1-99 and indicate academic peer performance relative to other academic peers. For example, an SGP of 85 indicates that she scored higher or equal to 88% of her academic peers on the most recent MCAS subject area test. Conversely, lower SGP numbers indicate less student growth.
The sgpData_WIDE data set is an anonymized panel data set containing five years of annual vertically scaled assessment data from five different years. It serves as an exemplar for the lower level studentGrowthPercentiles and studentGrowthProjections functions and contains unique student identifiers, assessment dates and scaled scores of each assessment event that have occurred over time.
The sgpData_LONG data set is an anonymized, panel data set consisting of 8 windows (3 per year) of assessment data in LONG format for Early Literacy, Mathematics and Reading content areas. This format serves as an exemplar for lower level studentGrowthPercentiles, studentGrowthProjections, and summariesSGP functions. This data set aims to include unique student identifiers, dates associated with assessments occurring and scaled score comparisons of each assessment across academic peer groups, in addition to demographic variables useful in creating SGP aggregates and student profiles. For more details on this data set please see the sgpData_LONG data description document.
